What it is

Pesewa Shop lets you run a shop inside PesewaPay: your branches, your rooms, your catalogue, your orders, and the money from them, in the same place you already keep your wallet.

For buyers it works the other way round. The money you pay for an order is not handed to the seller when you pay it. PesewaPay holds it until the order is marked handed over, which means a paid order that never arrives is still your money.

I am buying. What if the shop never sends my order?

The money has not reached them. It is held by PesewaPay until the order is marked handed over, so cancelling returns it to your wallet in full.

How it works

From start to finish

1

Apply

Tell us about the business. An application is reviewed and, if something is missing, the reason says what would make the next attempt succeed.

2

Set up where you sell from

A branch is a real place that can hand goods over. Inside it you can create rooms — Phones, Laptops, Accessories — and staff can be scoped to one.

3

List what you sell

Price, stock and photographs. Stock is checked when a buyer adds to their basket, not only at checkout, so the number you type is a promise you are held to straight away.

4

Take the order

Buyers pay in full or in instalments. Either way the money goes into safekeeping, not into your balance.

5

Hand it over, and get paid

Marking an order fulfilled is what releases the money to your shop. Then the owner moves the takings into their own wallet.

Where your money is

At every point, you can say where it sits

  1. 1 Buyer pays in full, or in instalments
  2. 2 Held by PesewaPay not the seller's money yet
  3. 3 Order handed over the shop marks it fulfilled
  4. 4 Shop's wallet released, in full
  5. 5 Owner's wallet when the owner moves it
What we guarantee

Not promises. Mechanisms.

Each of these is enforced in the software rather than stated as a policy. A policy can be broken; these cannot.

The shop is not paid until you have your order

When you pay, the money does not go to the seller. PesewaPay holds it until the shop marks your order handed over. Two things are both required before a shop sees any of it — paid in full, and delivered. A paid order that was never delivered is still your money, and a delivered order that was never paid for is a debt, not takings.

A refund is part of the cancellation, not a promise about it

Whatever you paid returns to your PesewaPay wallet in the same action that cancels the order. There is no state where the order is cancelled and the money has not come back, and no charge is applied — a refund is not a service anybody should pay for twice.

Either side can cancel, and both must say why

You can cancel within 24 hours of ordering, and not once the shop has started preparing it. A shop can cancel any time before the goods are handed over, because a shop that cannot fill an order must always be able to say so. Both sides give a reason and each is shown the other's.

Questions

What people actually ask

The money has not reached them. It is held by PesewaPay until the order is marked handed over, so cancelling returns it to your wallet in full.

Takings move from the shop to the owner's PesewaPay wallet at any time — but only money from orders already fulfilled is available, because the rest is still being held for buyers. Be aware that withdrawal out of PesewaPay to a bank or mobile money is not built yet: today a withdrawal is a deduction on the account and no cash arrives. We would rather say that here than have you find out after opening a shop.

Only the owner. Managers can run the shop and move orders along; draining its balance is the owner's decision.

Yes, through Bit Pay. The instalments go into the same safekeeping as a full payment — paying in bits is not a way round the protection.

Any charge is shown to you before you confirm, on the same screen you confirm on — never afterwards and never buried. Charges differ by service and some are currently nothing at all. A refund is never charged for.
